Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Northstowe Learning Community is committed and passionate about ensuring ‘Achievement for All’, by setting high aspirations and providing a high quality teaching and learning environment for all students. However, we acknowledge that some students require additional support, for part or all of their time with us, to enable them to reach their full potential.
All of the adults working in our schools support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to overcome their barriers and thrive and school. Additionally, we have dedicated teams to oversee and provide additional support, as detailed below.

Educational, Health Care Plans (EHCP)
Most children and young people’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities can be supported through our universal offer of High Quality Inclusive Teaching and pastoral support, with interventions to target specific aspects of learning where needed. For a small number of children and young people with significant and long-term complex educational needs that cannot be met by this ordinarily available support, an EHCP may be considered. This is a legal document, put in place and monitored by the Local Authority. An EHCP can only be issued when Cambridgeshire Local Authority (LA) determines a child or young person needs the additional support of an EHCP after an Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment (EHCNA) has been carried out.
For more information about EHC Plans, please visit this section of the Cambridgeshire Local Offer: Cambridgeshire Online | Education Health Care (EHC) Plans
